Is TEFL institute a legitimate place to receive an ESL certificate?

I'm looking into attaining my ESL certificate and having a hard time finding a legitimate way of doing so. I visited the TEFL institute website and it looks official, but we all know looks can be incredibly deceiving. Does anyone have any information on this website or any other avenues of earning a ESL certificate?
