Why do conservatives keep worshipping at the altar of Reagan when he would be considered a liberal today?

I think you're talking about someone else. Reagan lowered taxes significantly (look up the trickle down theory) and he was the one who ordered the USSR to tear down the wall (they didn't like that, and he also built up our nuclear arms). He only raised the debt because so many middle class people lost their jobs under him. He's a conservative.
